For an ongoing guerrilla art project called Goldenroach Hungarian designer and visual artist Miklós Kiss, aka kissmiklos, has been smuggling 14-carat gold-plated bronze cockroaches into museums across Europe, making them part of the. Since 2011 Kiss has secretly placed his roaches inside the Tate Modern, Tate Britain, the British Museum, MUMOK, Hamburger Bahnhof, Centre Pompidou and the Louvre. In addition to sneaking his golden roaches into the galleries themselves, he also places the matching Goldenroach souvenir postcards into the museum gift shops.

On March 25, 2014 Kiss traveled to the US and successfully placed his roaches inside the Museum of Modern Art in New York. That same month the Goldenroach project went from guerrilla art to featured exhibition, entitled Goldenroach Unlimited, at the M0 project space of the Műcsarnok / Kunsthalle in Budapest. There Kiss exhibited a massive assembly of 12,000 plastic Goldenroaches along with one 14-carat gold roach hidden among the the plastic horde. Visitor were even invited to take one plastic Goldenroach home with them.

Genpets - mass produced, bio-engineered pets with a lifespan of 1 and 3 years

Oh, dear creepy biotech future… But hey, it’s the next logical step. First Tamagotchis, then Furbys, Pokemons, Hatchis and now Genpets. Video:

Say Hello to the all New Genpets™ from Bio.Genica!
The Genpets™ are Pre-Packaged, Bioengineered pets implemented today!

That’s right, Genpets are not toys or robots. They are living, breathing genetic animals.

We use a process called “Zygote Micro Injection" which is quickly becoming a favourable method to combine DNA, or to insert certain proteins from different species. Most notably it was used in 1997 to splice mice with bioluminescent jellyfish (link) and has since been used to create glowing rabbits, pigs, fish, and monkeys (link). Since then, human DNA has been injected into rabbits, chimpanzees, spider DNA into sheep, and now, Genpets have arrived!

Read National Geographic’s site for more information on human animal hybrids (link).

We’ve gone one step further by packaging the Genpets™ into plastic packages unlike any other. Each Genpet™ package has a fully functional heart rate monitor and Fresh Strip to better gauge the state of each pet while it lies in its hibernation state. More Info. […]

Your pet, your way — Genpets™ Series 01

are mass produced Bio-engineered pets implemented today. Each pet comes pre-packaged as a fully self-contained unit. Genpets™ learn and adapt. They are fully living pets, but better, modified to be as reliable, dependable and efficient as any other ‘technology’ we use in our busy lives.

Feature Advancements take Genpets™ beyond any other commercial product available today. Color Coding, Fresh Strips, Heart Monitors, Stasis Mode, embedded LCD displays, microchips, as well as the Genpets Network™ are some of the exciting ways we’re doing this.

FEATURES

01.Genpet™

The Only Bioengineered Buddy. Available in 7 different personality types.

02.Color Coding

Each personality type of the Genpets has been linked to its respective colour, and that color is then used as a base for each package. (Read more)

03.Heart Monitor

Each package has a built in low cost heart monitor that is fully functional, with green LED lights and built in speaker. (Read more)

04.Fresh Strip

Every single package includes an easy to use “fresh gauge”. Four simple blue LED lights display the status of the Genpet™. The display will also display if the Genpet™ has been sitting on the store shelf too long, or if the package circuitry has malfunctioned in some way. (Read more)

05.Bio-Genica IV System

While the Genpets hang on the store shelves they are in a form of hibernation. Each Genpet™ package has a special nutrient feeding tube attached to it, supplying our specially formulated mix and keeping them healthy and asleep.

06.Genpet™ Restraints

Restraining the pets in their packaging ensures no damage to the product, as well as allowing for optimal consumer viewing.

(*Genpet™ life may vary depending on temperature and Genpet ™ freshness)
